Europe? Forgive me but I’d forgotten about Europe.
Maybe, just like you, I’d been spending too much time reading about the unstoppable surge of China, the incredible growth of India, the impending threat from any other BRIIC (yes, there are two 'I’s now), or even the decline of the United States, that I’d forgotten about Europe.
So, the chance to be this year's President of the Eurobest TV/Cinema, Print, Outdoor & Radio Jury is a chance to take stock of just who we are as a region.
We are unique. We are, as a group, more diverse than any other place on earth.
If you want to talk history, go no further than France, Spain, Portugal, Germany or England. If you want to talk emerging nation, you can’t get any more emerging than Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bosnia or Macedonia.
How exciting then that we’re celebrating a new Europe right at a time that we’re being challenged by new media.
If the last twenty years has taught us anything it must be this: this is now, not then, and the old rules don’t apply.
I hope we put on a great show.
