Stockholm Open: Europe’s got talent. We have a keynote to prove it

Friday 2 December

1500 - 1530

Cortona Room

Hosted by: Stockholm Open

Sweden tops international innovation rankings and is the most creatively awarded country in Europe relative to its small population. Still, it faces the same challenges with segregation and youth unemployment as many other European countries today. A new initiative connects talented youth and creative agencies to solve social problems – and open-sourcing the model for anyone to use.

Stockholm Open offers young adults from marginalized parts of the city paid summer jobs at Sweden's top creative agencies, with three weeks to solve a brief addressing a social issue in their home suburbs. After final presentations, the best ideas are implemented by the city and the most ambitious youths are awarded scholarships at Berghs School of Communication – securing a future inflow of new talent in the creative sector as well as tackling problems in segregated communities.

With 1100 % growth in its first year, Stockholm Open is quickly spreading to other cities. In connection with this year’s eurobest Festival, the operating model will be open-sourced and free for all agencies to use, with the three founders sharing their key learnings and showcasing the best ideas from the project.
