Akama is Global Practice Lead for Digital Out-of-home at Xaxis, part of GroupM, the world's largest media investment group. Prior to that, he was Head of Brand Performance at Verizon Media.

Akama has been awarded multiple industry accolades in his career to date. Recently, Akama won MediaWeek's Rising Star Media Owner, was listed in Campaign Magazine's 30 under 30, and won Future Leader of the Year in the Tech Leader Awards. Alongside judging at several media industry recognition bodies including; M&M Global, Festival of Media, DMA, Performance Marketing, and MediaWeeks Awards, amongst others.
