Simon Buijs, a Surinamese-born illustrator and art director based in the Netherlands, brings an international perspective to his versatile career. He holds a Bachelor's degree in visual design from Willem de Kooning Academy, specialising in branding through illustration and mascots, and a master's in Animation from Avans School of Applied Sciences. His work uniquely blends illustration, branding, and technology to craft cohesive visual identities across digital and physical media. Skilled in both solo projects and team leadership, Simon's diverse portfolio spans inclusive children’s stories, educational illustration systems, animated series, and printed materials for a global clientele. Since 2021, he has served as Design Director and Head of Design at BUCK Europe, leading creative teams to produce impactful work. His innovative designs have earned awards from ADCN, ADCE, Collision, European Design, and Creativepool, recognising projects including Keti Koti, Adobe Max, Picnic, and Playgrounds.
