Biography

Thorleifur Gunnar Gíslason, born 1981, is the Design Director of Brandenburg Creative Agency in Reykjavík, Iceland.

Although he specialises in branding, he is a jack of all trades, having received various accolades for his work in both graphic design and product design. Awards received in the field of graphic design range from logos, branding, packaging, book covers, illustration, posters and infographics. Thorleifur has received awards at The One Show, ADC*E, two dots at the Red Dot Awards, The Icelandic Design Award along with numerous domestic awards at the Icelandic Graphic Design Association (FÍT) and Ímark awards. Most recently, his team at Brandenburg was awarded Iceland’s first-ever Cannes Lion.

Thorleifur's dedication to the design industry extends beyond his work at Brandenburg. He has served on the board of the Icelandic Graphic Design Association for nearly a decade and has spent four years on the jury for the Icelandic Design Awards. Additionally, he was appointed to the editorial board of HA Design Magazine, published by the Center of Icelandic Design and Architecture.  These roles have given him a broader sense for great design across disciplines and how we tend to approach our creative work differently across these fields with one goal in mind. Design for a better world.
